27.04.2024

Real Madrid's talisman, German midfielder Toni Kroos, has announced his intention to retire after Euro 2024.

The German national team footballer joined Real Madrid exactly ten years ago and now, at the age of 34, he has decided to hang up his boots.

Kroos addressed his fans with a post on Instagram, where he wrote emotionally: " July 17th, 2014 - the day of my presentation at Real Madrid, the day that changed my life. My life as a footballer - but especially as a person. It was the start of a new chapter at the biggest club in the world. After 10 years, at the end of the season this chapter comes to an end. I will never forget that insolent successful time! I would particularly like to thank everyone that welcomed me with an open heart and trusted me. But especially I would like to thank you, dear Madridistas, for your affection and your love from the first day until the last one."

The star of Los Blancos goes on, stressing that after the end of the European football championship, he will retire from active sports. "As I have always said, Real Madrid is and will be the last club he plays for," he emphasized.

Apart from the Euro 24 matches, Toni Kroos will once again don a Real Madrid kit on June 1, for the game with Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.

Kroos has won 21 trophies in his time with Real Madrid, where he moved 10 years ago after leaving Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
